Primary objective
Provide a high standard of confidential secretarial and administrative support services to the Drug and Organised Crime
Division and other police members of the Northern Territory Police, Fire and Emergency Services (NTPFES).

Context statement
The applicant will have appropriate experience in secretariat and administrative support, high level interpersonal and
organisational skills, including a high level of confidentiality and computer proficiency.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide a high standard of confidential secretarial and administrative services to the managers within the Drug and

Organised Crime Division. This will include processing all incoming and outgoing correspondence, drafting
correspondence, filing, screening telephone calls, visitors and other administrative duties to the Division as required.

2. Prepare transcripts from interviews, Dictaphone or handwritten instructions.
3. Deal with telephone enquiries and general enquiries from within the Agency and members of the public.
4. Arrange travel and associated itineraries and provide relevant documentation.
5. Accurate and timely management of all Drug and Organised Crime Division records and information using Territory

Records manager (TRM) system following up on response deadlines as necessary.
6. General office housekeeping including maintenance of stationery and office requisite stock and office equipment, petty

cash transactions, Corporate Credit Card and direct purchase orders as directed.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience in providing confidential secretariat and administrative support, including high quality transcribing and minute

taking with attention to detail.
2. Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills, sound organisational skills and adaptive

to change.
3. Proven experience working in a confidential area and possession of a high standard of personal integrity and high level

of confidentiality.

Desirable
1. Experience or formal training in transcribing.
2. Understanding of Northern Territory Police Fire and Emergency Services policies and procedures and of Northern

Territory Government financial policies.
3. Proven ability to work under pressure, in a team environment and have the flexibility to work extended hours.
4. A strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to set and maintain deadlines and work with limited supervision.
5. Data input using mainframe applications and excel spreadsheets.
