Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced AHPRA Registered Nurse / Paramedic to fulfil the role of Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) joining the Health and Safety team at our Kanowna Belle Operations on a 12‐month Fixed Term Basis. This is a Kalgoorlie residential position on an eight days on, six days off roster, working 10 hours per day. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the OHN's primary role is to ensure the health of our workers through the delivery of health services, health promotion, proactive injury management, monitoring of occupational health functions, supporting occupational hygiene programs, and providing expert advice on health matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide emergency and non‐emergency assistance and health care to the site workers.
* Assist in managing the site's processes in relation to health emergency preparedness through the regular review and updating of emergency procedures and response systems.
* Provide relevant health care training and coaching as required by managers and including the members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
* Participate in emergency response training to understand the roles fulfilled during emergency response.
* Manage the emergency health facilities and assets onsite to ensure a timely, coordinated, and professional response.
* Assist the Health and Safety Department with projects as directed, ensuring project compliance and quality, and identifying improvement opportunities. This includes but is not limited to occupational health and hygiene, health programs, and the administration of workers' compensation claims.
* On call 24 hours to respond promptly to medical emergencies while on roster.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent, Bachelor of Paramedical Science or accepted equivalent (e.g., 10+ years with a State Ambulance Service with appropriate "on road" pre‐hospital and remote experience), current registration with AHPRA, current qualification or willingness to complete the Advanced Life Support (ALS) course, and current manual "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
Experience
* Capacity to build key working relationships and effective communication skills.
* Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Micromine, health information databases and safety reporting systems (e.g., INX).
* Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
* Demonstrated experience in first responder or emergency health care.
* Experience working in the mining industry or similar.
* Experience in Workers Compensation and Injury Management.
* Experience managing emergency response situations in mining, including liaising with off‐site medical providers and the RFDS as required.
