is seeking an experienced
Safety Manager
to lead and manage WHS systems across large-scale heavy civil construction projects in Darwin.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage site-wide Work Health & Safety (WHS) systems across heavy civil construction works
* Develop, implement, and maintain Safety Management Plans (SMPs) in line with legislative and contractual requirements
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and project-specific safety standards
* Conduct site safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Lead incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
* Oversee safety documentation including SWMS, JHAs, permits, and registers
* Deliver toolbox talks, pre-starts, and safety briefings to site teams and subcontractors
* Liaise with Project Managers, Superintendents, clients, and regulators as required
* Drive a proactive safety culture focused on risk mitigation and continuous improvement
Our Ideal Candidate:
* 8+ years' experience in safety management within heavy civil construction
* Proven experience on large-scale infrastructure or complex civil projects
* Strong understanding of WHS legislation and compliance frameworks
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence site leadership and workforce behaviour
* Highly organised with strong reporting and documentation capability
* Construction White Card (mandatory)
* Diploma or Degree in WHS or related discipline preferred
