Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Geophysical Operator to lead our IP geophysics team based in the Drummond Basin. This role is pivotal in IP surveys, ensuring high-quality data collection, and contributing to our exploration success. The position operates on a 20/10 roster (20 days on-site, 10 days off), providing a balanced work-life schedule. You'll collaborate closely with a world-class geophysicist, gaining exposure to cutting-edge methodologies while leading field operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a dedicated IP crew, overseeing daily operations, equipment setup, data acquisition, and quality control during surveys
* Coordinate with the senior geophysicist to plan, execute, and interpret IP surveys, ensuring alignment with project goals and safety standards
* Collect, process, and preliminary analyze field data, preparing reports for the geophysics team
* During periods of inclement weather or downtime in IP activities, assist field crews with soil sampling programs, auger drilling, and general fieldwork to maintain project momentum
* Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on geophysical equipment, including IP transmitters, receivers, and electrodes
* Mentor junior technicians and foster a collaborative team environment
* Ensure compliance with company policies, and Queensland safety and environmental regulations
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience (5+ years) as an IP Field Technician or in a similar geophysical role, preferably in mineral exploration
* Strong knowledge of Induced Polarization techniques, including array configurations, data inversion, and interpretation basics
* Leadership experience managing field crews in remote or challenging conditions
* Current Australian manual driver’s licence and right to work in Australia
* Senior First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
* Strong fitness level for remote field work in hot conditions
Desirable Skills
* Relevant qualifications in geophysics, earth sciences, or a related field will be highly regarded
* Familiarity with soil sampling, geochemical surveys, and general exploration fieldwork

Pay: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
