We are looking for a Senior Engineer Cave Design to support mine design, scheduling and production planning at our Oyu Tolgoi (OT) operation in Mongolia.
This is a great opportunity for a mining engineer to join one of the world’s most significant underground mining projects. Reporting to the Principal Engineer and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Life of Mine Studies team, you will be:
5. Contributing to mine design efforts to support ongoing updates of existing development projects as well as feasibility studies
6. Utilizing PCBC block cave planning software to assist with annual reserves and resources updates and ongoing feasibility studies
7. Considering different underground options such as single versus multiple lifts footprint, drawpoint spacing, haulage methods, caving sequences, longitudinal versus transverse layouts, electric versus diesel fleets, etc.
8. Assisting with the annual reporting of mine reserves and resources
9. Seeking opportunities to implement improvements and reduce risk
10. Assisting in reporting and documentation management
11. Communicating and supporting ongoing and planned work with the OT site teams
What you’ll bring
12. A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
13. Mining Engineering degree or equivalent
14. 5-10 years practical experience in block caving and/or underground operations
15. Exposure to production planning systems and software packages like Deswik and PCBC
16. Mine planning experience (site operations / feasibility), with experience in mine design and scheduling
17. Experience with underground mine development processes specifically cave development and construction
18. Highly effective communication and stakeholder management skills

This role is based in Brisbane and is supporting the ongoing production ramp up of the world’s newest block cave.
