About the Role
In this varied role, you'll:
* Oversee the Purchasing team who process all authorised purchasing requisitions and requests where required ensuring that all purchasing requests comply with established guidelines and policies
* Periodically review authorised purchase requisitions and requests ensuring orders are processed in a timely manner and according to requirements
* Design and implement purchasing strategies and procurement policies: Developing effective strategies and policies to optimize procurement processes and reduce supply chain costs.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers: Building and nurturing relationships with suppliers is crucial for securing favourable terms, negotiating contracts, and fostering long‐term partnerships
* Oversee the Purchasing to ensure that administrative systems, databases, spreadsheets and reports are maintained and provided in an accurate and timely manner providing up to date information when required.
* Coach team members and develop their performance, offering feedback and demonstrating the desired skills and expected work ethic within your team.
* Act as an escalation point, providing case management support for the investigation of grievances. Achieve resolutions within Busways national policies and procedures framework, promoting in depth and effective staff management practices.
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 2+ years' experience in a purchasing or accounting role, Certificate in IV in Procurement or Contracting, extensive relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
* Experience negotiating high value contracts across parts, fuel, cleaning and outsourced maintenance
* Ability to develop and manage sourcing strategies for major spend categories and experience consolidating suppliers and leveraging and identifying savings opportunities
* Strong capability in spend analysis, cost modelling and identifying savings opportunities
* Experience establishing supplier KPIs, performance reviews and governance frameworks with the ability to manage underperformance and commercial disputes constructively
* Experience working in asset heavy or fleet‐based environments, with an understanding of maintenance operations and critical parts supply
* Proven ability to work with operations, workshops, finance and senior leaders, with strong communication and influencing skills
* Experience managing and developing a small procurement or purchasing team
* Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have working rights in Australia.
