Supporting the Central Australia region comprising of 26 remote communities, the Department is inviting applications for the position of Remote Housing Officer.
As a
Remote Housing Officer
(RHO) your primary objective is to deliver direct tenancy management services, support, and guidance to Remote Public Housing clients according to the Remote Public Housing Management framework and the Residential Tenancies Act.
Your key duties involve providing leadership, direction, management and mentoring to placed based Tenancy Support Service contractors, assist in managing Housing Reference Groups to achieve appropriate housing outcomes, and managing the Work Units obligations under the Residential Tenancy Act and Housing Act. This includes establishing and managing lease agreements, coordinating rent collection and payments, addressing anti-social behaviour and inspecting remote public and government employee housing.
To be successful you require high-level written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated relationship building and influencing skills, and the ability to communicate sensitively and persuasively with Aboriginal clients and community stakeholders. Sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, experience working in remote communities and ability to coach and mentor Aboriginal team members is essential.
A current NT C class driver's licence or the ability to obtain and capacity to travel by 4WD vehicles and light aircraft is also required.
