Metroll Perth is looking for a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our operations and develop into a key technical resource across maintenance, production and continuous improvement. This is a hands‑on role where you'll learn from experienced engineers, work closely with roll‑forming and sheet‑metal equipment, and contribute to real projects that impact daily operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of plant maintenance, reliability, engineering design and production support. This role is designed to develop you into a future technical leader, with structured training and opportunities to take ownership of engineering projects.
What You'll Be Doing
Support maintenance technicians with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance planning.
Participate in root cause analysis and develop actions to prevent recurrence.
Contribute to capital projects, from scoping through to implementation.
Use CAD software to support design and drafting of sheet‑metal solutions.
Help develop preventative maintenance programs for roll‑forming equipment.
Assist with mechanical integrity compliance for cranes, hoists and building infrastructure.
Review production bottlenecks and identify engineering improvement opportunities.
Support installation, commissioning and testing of new equipment.
Work closely with production and customer service teams to deliver practical engineering solutions.
Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with WHS procedures.
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or final‑year student).
Strong interest in manufacturing, heavy industry or steel processing.
Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn on the job.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
Clear communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
Proactive, curious and eager to develop into a future technical leader.
Highly Desirable
Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment or fabrication.
Experience with CAD or mechanical design.
Exposure to industrial environments through placements or projects.
