The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate lawyer with 1 - 3 years PAE to join our Brisbane based Employment Workplace Relations and Safety team. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to progress your career within a team that is renowned for its collaborative culture, passion for client service and professional development opportunities.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of workplace matters including:
* Advising clients on management of ill and injured workers;
* Providing critical incident response services to clients;
* Defending prosecutions under the safety legislation (nationally);
* Advising on and representing clients in a variety of employment related claims, including claims for unfair dismissal, adverse action, discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract and underpayment of wages
* Dealing with industrial relations issues, Right of Entry disputes
* Advising on WHS and managing incidents
* Undertaking workplace investigations for clients;
* Delivering training to clients on Employment and safety related topics.
Skills And Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
* A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current Queensland practising certificate
* Minimum 1 years' post admission ideally with exposure to Work Health and Safety matters, and/or Employment, Workers' Compensation, or general litigation
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling a practical and commercial approach to be taken
* Confidence to deal with clients and work collaboratively with other practice groups
* High degree of initiative, dedication and organisational ability with a strong client and commercial focus
* Ability to manage a busy workload and work to tight deadlines
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* A strong, plain language communication style
