JHW Paterson & Son operate a large cattle breeding and feeding business that includes 'Clifton' located at Anakie, Victoria. 'Clifton' is a 1,100 hectare property located 18km from Geelong.
The property runs Angus cows and is a vital F1 Wagyu backgrounding hub for our 'Hells Gate Feedlot', located in New South Wales. This picturesque property has undercover cattle yards and has undergone significant improvements in fencing and pastures, enabling increases in efficiency and carrying capacity.
The opportunity has become available for a Farm Hand to work alongside the Farm Manager and other permanent/contracting staff. You must be willing to learn and grow in your role.
Responsibilities Include:
* Monitoring livestock condition, diagnosis of health symptoms and administration of health treatments.
* Daily livestock handling and general animal husbandry tasks including marking, joining, receiving, feeding, processing, drafting and cattle dispatch.
* Fencing, welding, spraying, property maintenance, water and mechanical.
* Assisting with the pasture renovation as well as hay and silage program.
Successful applicants will have the following:
* Current Australian manual drivers license, ability to ride 4 wheeled motorcycle and operate machinery.
* Low stress stock handling skills and ability to work with large mobs of cattle.
* Good time management skills that demonstrate an efficiency and communication skills.
* Be reliable, honest, motivated, positive, and trustworthy.
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
* A willingness to engage with farm management software including Agriwebb.
* Chem-Cert, LPA, NLIS and First Aid training an advantage but not essential.
