Overview
The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest hospital in Tasmania with approximately 500 beds. It is the state‐wide referral centre for numerous tertiary services and an accredited Level 3 teaching hospital, as well as the community hospital for the Greater Hobart Region.
Responsibilities
* Day‐to‐day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the hospital.
* Provide after‐hours emergency cover.
* Participate in the full spectrum of acute care from admission to discharge.
* Form a vital part of the medical emergency team (MET) for the hospital.
* Complete a term of after‐hours/nights/relief.
* Participate in external 3‐month rotations at North West Regional Hospital (General Medicine) or Launceston General Hospital (subspecialty term).
* Potential subspecialty rotations in Cardiology, Geriatrics, ICU, Renal, Gastroenterology, and regional rotation.
Training
Medical registrar positions are designed for those seeking RACP‐accredited Basic Physician Training (BPT). The program offers paid teaching time of 5 hours per week and opportunities for subspecialty rotations.
Essential Requirements
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
Pre‐employment checks
* Conviction checks: Crimes of Violence, Sex Related Offences, Serious Drug Offences, Crimes involving dishonesty.
* Identification check.
* Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
Salary
$134,930 - $189,005 per annum.
Period of Employment
Fixed‐term, full‐time day work, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro‐rata), commencing 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.
