The Role This pivotal Farm Hand position is based on a substantial 2500-hectare property and offers an expertly balanced workload between cattle and sheep husbandry. Your core duties will involve essential stock work, maintaining and building boundary fences, operating tractors, and driving pasture renovation to continually improve the land. Specifically, you will be assisting with the management of a significant operation that runs 600 Angus cows and 2200 cross-bred ewes, utilising two-wheel motorbikes for mustering, which requires a current license. The operation strategically finishes cattle in external feedlots and sells them opportunistically to stronger markets, while lambs are marketed as high-quality spring lambs. The Employer This progressive property is situated in the picturesque Strathbogie Ranges of Victoria, conveniently located just 21km from Seymour and 15km from Avenel. Following recent bushfires that impacted approximately 90% of the land, the committed management team is now capitalising on this period of recovery as an extensive opportunity to drastically improve both the farm's layout and its infrastructure. This exciting development includes a major undertaking of 150km of new boundary fencing and the installation of brand new Arrowquip cattle yards, building upon the sheep yards that were professionally updated only two years ago. The entire team is focused on continuous operational improvement and is actively searching for a highly committed individual to join them during this significant phase of infrastructure development and growth. The Offer The compensation package for the successful candidate is highly competitive and includes high-quality accommodation in a generous four-bedroom cottage complete with a secure garage. The employer maintains an open and inclusive policy and is welcoming applications from singles, couples, or families who can make this property their home. Crucially, the employer offers a clear and transparent opportunity for progression to the candidate who proves to be the right fit. The Ideal Candidate We are actively seeking an honest and genuinely enthusiastic professional who can capably demonstrate their ability to operate effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team. 3-5 years of documented experience in a similar mixed livestock role Mandatory requirement to supply and effectively use working dogs (strictly no pig dogs permitted) A current motorbike license is essential for efficient stock mustering Negotiable option to keep personal horses on the property, but no other personal livestock Register your interest If you feel that you're the right fit for this position, please submit an up-to-date resume along with the contact details of 3 references.
