The Role
We are seeking a capable and motivated Structural Draftsperson to join our Wollongong team in a full-time role. This position is suited to both early-career draftspersons looking to develop their technical skills and experienced professionals seeking to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.
You will be involved in the preparation and coordination of structural documentation for a wide variety of developments, including multi-storey Residential and Commercial Buildings, Industrial Structures, Educational Buildings, and Public & Recreational Projects. You will work closely with our engineers, architects, builders, and other consultants to support the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate structural drawings and documentation in accordance with engineer's design intent and relevant Australian Standards.
* Produce detailed plans, sections, details, schedules, and revisions for issue at various project stages (DA, CC, IFC).
* Coordinate structural drawings with architectural, civil, and services documentation.
* Incorporate mark-ups, comments, and design changes efficiently and accurately.
* Assist engineers with documentation for construction and respond to drafting-related RFIs.
* Participate in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing multiple projects concurrently.
* Maintain organised drawing registers, file management, and document control procedures.
Essential Criteria
* Qualification in Structural Drafting, Engineering Drafting, or a related discipline.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential).
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality documentation.
* Ability to interpret engineering sketches, mark-ups, and design information.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience as a Structural Draftsperson within a consulting engineering environment.
* Experience documenting reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and post-tensioned structures.
* Familiarity with Australian Standards and common construction practices.
* Experience coordinating drawings with architects, builders, and consultants.
* Exposure to 3D modelling or BIM software (e.g. Revit, Tekla) is advantageous but not essential.
* Experience assisting with construction-stage documentation and revisions.
