The Medical Oncology Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital is recruiting for two suitable Advanced Trainees for 2026, one accredited position and one non accredited position.

The positions would also suit trainees in palliative medicine & general medicine - potentially meeting accredited core training in Medical Oncology.

Salary

$134,930 - $189,005 per annum

Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work, working 76 hours per fortnight plus 10 hours protected training time (pro rata), commencing 2 February 2026 until 1 February 2027.

Possibility of part time work considered.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Duties

The Registrar is responsible for the day to day management of public inpatients and outpatients within the Royal Hobart Hospital and provides first on call cover for the Medical Oncology unit. Required to do infrequent shifts covering the emergency met calls at the hospital.

Essential Requirements

* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence

b) Sex Related Offences

c) Serious Drug Offences

d) Crimes involving dishonesty

2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
