Join us as a Connections Engineer (internally known as a Customer Connections Development Engineer ) and amplify your impact. Your Opportunity You’ll join a team that is positively impacting major and large customer connections across the state. As a Connections Engineer, you are responsible for concept scoping, estimating, and project approval activities. You’ll be supporting the delivery of a broad range of major customer projects like solar and wind farms, utility scale BESS projects, and large load connections across the state. These projects can relate to many different industrial sectors like transport infrastructure, data centres, large-scale renewable projects, or even the Olympics. Based at one of our major offices, you’ll draw on your electrical engineering capability, project management and people-skills to help deliver project scoping and estimates for customer projects. This isn’t your typical engineering role – here, you won’t be acting as an SME. Instead, you bring with you a broad range of electrical knowledge (think generator connections, LV and HV infrastructure, and substations) paired with the ability to manage internal stakeholder relationships with engineering SMEs to put together scopes and estimates for major connection projects. This is a role where you’ll be interacting with different parts of the business often, so a willingness to converse and collaborate comes second nature to you. You aren’t afraid to pick up the phone and have a chat with a colleague to gather information, and enjoy cross-team collaborationAmplify your impact – day to day, you will: Undertake engineering analysis and ‘fact-find’/negotiate with SMEs within the business to develop project scope statements and estimates for connection services for major customer projectsAttend customer facing meetings with Major Customer project sponsors and liaise with them to deliver the lowest cost most technically feasible solution. Collaborate with your team and internal SMEs to deliver high quality results for major customer works. What You’ll Bring It is essential that you possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering that meets the qualification requirements of the Washington Accord. Whilst not essential, it is desirable that you are a RPEQ or a CPEng, too. What is essential is your technical knowledge, skills, and ability where you have: Experience supporting the delivery of programs of work related to the construction of large substation and lines projects. This includes scoping, estimating, and engaging with stakeholdersDemonstrated knowledge relating to generator connections and the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of electrical network infrastructure ranging from LV to 220kVKnowledge of relevant acts, regulations, and codes of practices, and can develop detailed technical engineering reportsThinking of your transferrable and soft skills, you have: The ability to work in a team environment and offer support, guidance, and training to colleagues to share knowledge and upskill. Excellent and well-developed interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills. You are someone who can build strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders, and aren’t afraid of picking up the phone and having a chat with someone. The ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively to deliver conflicting project milestones. What matters most?
