The property spans extensive landscaped grounds and includes 370+ guest rooms, multiple food and beverage outlets, a resort pool, an activity lagoon, and comprehensive back-of-house facilities. The adjoining Sunshine Coast Convention Centre accommodates up to 1,500 delegates and supports major national and international conferences, exhibitions, and live events, requiring a high standard of preventative and reactive maintenance across diverse building systems.
As part of the Accor Group, you will work within established engineering standards, compliance frameworks, and safety systems, alongside a skilled and collaborative team. This role offers exposure to a wide range of plant, equipment, and infrastructure, making it an excellent opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional looking to further develop their technical skills within a complex, fast-paced operating environment.
Job Description
As a Shift Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and presentation of the resort's facilities. You will respond to maintenance requests, perform preventative maintenance, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the property.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out general maintenance and repair work across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house
* Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests
* Perform preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and ensure compliance
* Assist with basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical tasks
* Ensure all work complies with WHS regulations and resort standards
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and report major issues to management
* Participate in shift rotations, including weekends and public holidays as required
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a similar maintenance or engineering role, ideally within hospitality or resorts
* Relevant certifications (desirable but not essential)
* Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Physically fit and capable of manual tasks
* Must have full Australian working rights
**This role is paid under the Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020 with Monday-Friday pay rate starting from $30.68 per hour, Saturday pay rate: $38.35/hr, and Sunday pay rate: $46.01/hr (plus applicable penalty and public holiday rates)**
