Join us as an Assistant Accountant in our Finance Unit, working under the Reporting Supervisor. You will oversee the accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions, and provide insight into the financial health of the College.
What You'll Do
* Month-end close - assist with the timely and accurate completion of month-end close procedures, including preparing and posting journal entries, and ensuring all financial data is properly recorded.
* AU Quarterly BAS and NZ GST Bi‐Monthly GST return preparation.
* Year‐end close - support the year‐end close process and assist with preparing schedules and documentation for external audits.
* Grants management – including support for preparation of Specialist Training Program (STP) financials acquittals.
* Balance sheet reconciliations - This includes, but is not limited to, prepayments and accruals, ensuring proper recognition and allocation of expenses over time.
* Budgeting & Forecasting - act as a business partner by collaborating with department heads to develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
* Monthly management reporting and other reporting preparations.
* Support GM Finance, and Reporting Supervisor in project accounting as required.
* Support GM Finance, and Reporting Supervisor with identifying improvements required, followed by design and implementing changes.
* Collaborate with staff across the organization to improve and innovate process, systems and consistency.
What You'll Bring
* Experience working in an education, not for profit organisation, membership and/or the healthcare sector preferred.
* Experience on using ADP, Microsoft D365 is preferred, but not mandatory.
* Accounting degree and studying towards a CA/CPA membership.
* Advanced skills in MS Excel and proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise coupled with a 'can do' attitude.
