About the role:
We are excited to be hiring for a Quality Environmental Health & Safety Engineer who will be responsible for supporting management in maintaining and improving the quality (ISO 9001), workplace health and safety (ISO 45001), and environmental (ISO 14001) management systems. This includes overseeing complaint management, document control, audits, and management reviews.
This role is based in the Melbourne Head Office and involves close collaboration with the Head of Operations, who oversees Logistics, Production, and Warehouse functions. As a critical position, the QEHS Engineer provides expertise and support to operational units and sales teams, ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, health, and safety standards. This autonomous role reports directly to Singapore and is part of the South East Asia & Pacific Regional team.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Integrated Management System (IMS)
* Develop, implement, and maintain QEHS standards to ensure compliance within operational processes.
* Lead internal and external audits to uphold QEHS standards.
Quality Management
* Collaborate with the QES Manager and Department Managers to ensure adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
* Support the enhancement of quality management, workplace health and safety, and environmental systems.
* Optimize processes to reduce failures and enhance stability.
* Lead initiatives to resolve customer complaints through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports to communicate quality metrics.
* Provide expert WHS guidance and coaching to staff and management to enhance safety capabilities.
* Review and implement WHS policies in line with legislation.
* Conduct audits and manage safety investigations.
* Oversee Workcover claims and facilitate WHS training and onboarding for staff.
Document Control
* Collaborate with Document Controllers to maintain an effective documentation management system for the QES Management System.
* Develop, control, and retain relevant documentation.
* Guide department heads in the implementation of corporate documents into local processes.
* Manage the complaint process by reviewing failure analysis reports.
* Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Prepare statistical reports on complaint trends and quality performance to identify areas for improvement.
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding complaint resolutions.
About You

* Experience in Quality/WHS roles in large manufacturing or technical environments.
* Familiarity with complaint, project, and change management processes.
* Knowledge of ISO standards implementation.
* Proficient in ERP systems (preferably SAP), MS Office, 8D reports, and root cause analysis tools.
* Strong analytical skills and business acumen.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
* Collaborative, customer-oriented, and able to work independently in a matrix structure.
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage competing demands.
* Experience in managing sustainable client relationships.
* Relevant Engineering degree (electrical, mechatronics, mechanical, or automation technology).
* Knowledge of Australian and New Zealand WHS regulations.
* ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is a plus.
* Solid technical knowledge of automation and drive technology.
* Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
