If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander tertiary student studying Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health, this is a great opportunity to participate in an Aboriginal Cadetship Program at our leading, regional hospital.

Are you currently studying a Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health discipline?

Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is East Gippsland's largest employer and is a growing regional health service providing a comprehensive array of health care services to our community.

BRHS is excited to offer eligible students an opportunity to participate in a cadetship program to support their professional development. If you are a motivated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student, currently studying Nursing, Enrolled Nursing, Midwifery or Allied Health role we would like to hear from you!

The cadetship program will provide you with a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience (in addition to your mandatory placements) whilst earning an income at the same time.

About the role:

- Cadets will work under the supervision of experienced health professionals performing duties appropriate to their level of experience and study
- Fixed term position for an agreed period
- Completion of 320 hours in total - equivalent to 40 eight-hour shifts. A suitable work schedule will be negotiated with successful candidates

Am I eligible?

To be considered for the, you must:

- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Be currently enrolled in a nursing, midwifery or allied health course that leads to a nationally recognised qualification, such as a diploma or graduate diploma, bachelor or masters degree or graduate certificate
- Have successfully progressed beyond the first year of study
- Have maintained a pass grade in all subjects
- Be able to commit to 320 total placement hours
- Currently reside in Victoria or a cross-border community
- Have a good understanding of patient centred care, good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work within a team environment
