The University Program Management Office (UPMO)

The University Program Management Office (UPMO) drives strategic change at ECU through portfolio, program, and project management services, supporting ECU to deliver high impact, complex strategic change initiatives. We partner across the university to provide fit‑for‑purpose governance, methodologies, and delivery capability, to transform ideas into outcomes that provide real value for our staff, students, and the sector.


About the Opportunity

This is a senior leadership opportunity to lead an established University Project Management Office (UPMO) at a critical stage of organisational growth and transformation.

As Director, UPMO, you will provide strategic oversight of a diverse portfolio of complex initiatives, strengthening project governance, delivery consistency and capability across the University. Working closely with senior leaders, you will influence how projects are prioritised, governed and delivered, ensuring alignment with institutional strategy and measurable outcomes.


About you

* Demonstrated experience leading and improving a PMO in a complex organisation
* Strong strategic capability, with the ability to translate governance into effective delivery
* Credibility and confidence engaging with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders
* A collaborative leadership style focused on capability uplift and consistency
* Sound judgement in project prioritisation, risk management and delivery oversight
* Adaptability and pragmatism within a values‑driven or highly matrixed environment
* Experience in higher education, government or similarly complex sectors (desirable)
