About us:
Our Ophthalmology practice is setting up a modern practice in Bathurst, regional NSW. Our Surgeon is lovely, amiable and a delight to work with (not over stated).
Our practice is a modern, leading edge practice. It is a Comprehensive Ophthalmology practice with sub-specialty in Oculoplastics, Strabismus and Paediatrics. You will be working alongside our Surgeon, Visiting Surgeons Practice Manager, Clinical Support Staff and Medical Receptionists (once recruited).
About you:
You are a qualified Orthoptist who would like to commence your career (or has experience in the industry). You pride yourself on your work ethic, customer service skills, and attention to detail. The role initially will be 2.5 to 3 days per week. Once the rooms have been renovated (approximately October 2026), this will move to full time onsite.
You will work closely with our clinical and admin teams.
Responsibilities will include:
Management/Admin skills-
* Managing the Surgeon and your diary utilising Xestro
* Assisting with consulting sessions
* 20% of the role will be administration, this will reduce as further admin staff are employed
* Occasional Reception
* Theatre admin duties including, booking, billing and quoting for theatre procedures
* Ability to cover leave for Practice Manager
Clinical skills-
* First point of clinical support for patients
* Orthoptic work-ups
* 80% of the role will be clinical
* Independent Orthoptic clinics
* Potential assistance with Refractive Laser clinic

Experience/qualifications:
* Must be a fully qualified Ophthalmologist
* Accredited by the Australian Orthoptic Board (AOB)
* A Valid Working with Children (Employee)

Hours/days:
* Initially 1 to 3 days per week.
* From October (approximately) onwards we are negotiable to increase the hours up to a maximum of full time: Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 5:00pm (happy to consider school hours). But for the right candidate ongoing happy to consider 1 to 5 days per week.
Pay rate: $38.00 to $50.00 per hour plus super
