The Manager Hazard Preparedness and Response (HPR) East is a role within the Decision Support Services (DSS) Program, under the Community Services Group, reporting to the General Manager DSS.
The DSS Program supports the decision making of the Emergency Management sector and the Australian community through the interpretation and communication of the Bureau's climatologies, forecasts, warnings, outlooks and projections to our emergency management partners and the Australian community. This is done through the provision of briefings, embedded specialist services into other organisations, and media.
The DSS Program is also tasked with establishing deep customer relationships with our emergency management partners to build a detailed understanding of their decision-making contexts and how our services to them can be approved.
The DSS Program works seamlessly with the National Product and Environmental Prediction Service functions, which comprise the Community Services Group and are configured to enable scalable and truly national, resilient services.
The Manager of Hazard Preparedness and Response, East (HPR East) leads three teams in the resilient delivery of these functions across Queensland and New South Wales, with teams in Townsville, Brisbane and Sydney.
