Who you are

You are an experienced systems engineer who thrives in complex technical environments and enjoys solving challenging problems at scale. You combine deep technical expertise in Linux-based HPC platforms with a collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to support researchers in achieving exceptional outcomes. Proactive and adaptable, you thrive in environments where you work with emerging technologies, taking pride in building secure, reliable, high‐performing systems that deliver real value. You enjoy diagnosing and resolving complex system and performance issues with an innate ability to provide strategic advice to stakeholders, including continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll do

Lead the design, administration and lifecycle management for our high-performance computing systems by:

* Ensuring the availability, security, performance and scalability of HPC infrastructure
* Planning and delivering HPC infrastructure deployments
* Implement and enhance monitoring, logging and reliability frameworks to support operational excellence and compliance
* Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders on HPC best practice, resource utilisation and workload management

What will help you succeed

You will bring a combination of strong technical capability, strategic thinking and professional maturity to the role, including:

* A postgraduate qualification (or progress toward one) in computing or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and extensive relevant experience
* Extensive experience administering Unix/Linux-based High Performance Computing (HPC) environments
* Strong expertise in server infrastructure and system configuration, performance monitoring and fault diagnostics and security practices

Location: Toowoomba, Springfield or Ipswich campus

Term: Full-time continuing appointment (36 hours/week)

Salary: Total remuneration range $133,806 to $153,649 pa (includes salary range of $112,845 to $129,580 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
