Primary objective
Provide high-level advice, leadership and program and project management for a series of projects as directed by the General
Manager.
Context statement
The Top End Mental Health Service and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) programs provide comprehensive, culturally
appropriate care to support the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across the Northern Territory.
This role will be pivotal in improving and ensuring the effectiveness of executive leadership, enabling seamless
communication, rigorous governance and the delivery of critical initiatives.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Drive improvements in executive and corporate service functions to enhance operational efficiency, streamline
processes, and deliver better organisational outcomes.
2. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
3. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to lead cultural change to introduce new ways of working, including consistent approaches to
delivering NT Health priorities.
2. High level strategic and operational leadership and management skills, with experience leading and implementing variety
of projects with diverse teams to deliver time-critical outcomes.
3. Demonstrated understanding of public administration, corporate governance, financial systems requirements and
Government decision making frameworks.
4. Proven experience in strategic and business planning, policy development and project management
5. Exceptional oral and written communication, interpersonal, strategic negotiation and mediation skills to deal effectively
with a range of internal and external stakeholders, together with the ability to interact effectively with people of diverse
cultures; this includes strategies and tactics relevant to effective stakeholder engagement and management in politically
sensitive environments.
Desirable
1. Qualifications, formal training or significant experience in either project management, finance, human resource
management, governance or change management.
