Overview
DL Communications is seeking a suitably experienced Systems Engineer/Technical Officer to join our dynamic team in Canberra, ACT / Rockingham, WA. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing and maintaining secure systems to support our Defence customer. The position is available for an initial 12-month contract with the option for further engagement.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to operate autonomously and be self‐driven to conduct activities including fault diagnosis, system test, and integration of mechanical and/or electronic systems for defence use. There is also requirement to produce well‐articulated and detailed documentation supporting these activities. Throughout the engagement, the successful candidate will be required to provide support to an operational Defence site.
Key Qualifications
* Advanced troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills
* Familiarity with electrical and data interface standards and protocols (including RS232, EIA530, Ethernet, RF modulation)
* Experience in Military Standard electrical component/subsystem selection and procurement
* Experience with product configuration control and baseline management
* High degree of familiarity and experience with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, vector network analysers, spectrum analysers and network throughput testers
* Experience working in ESD‐Safe production environments
* Experience working within a Defence or government industry
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare and present concise reports, briefings, and instructions
* Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in an engineering discipline
Desirable Experience
* Solid networking understanding, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, VLAN configuration and firewall policies
* Experience in network/system security, securing Windows and Linux systems in line with Essential 8 and ISM controls
* Experienced with electronic assembly manufacture and repair, including familiarity with IPC‐A‐610, IPC‐WHMA‐A‐620, IPC‐7711/7721 and IPC‐J‐STD‐001 standards
* Experience in environments using ISO/IEC 15288 Systems and software engineering — system life cycle processes
Security Clearance & Requirements
* Must hold Australian citizenship
* Valid driver's licence required
* Must hold and maintain a TSPV security clearance
* Must undergo an Australian National Police Clearance check
Work Details
Work will largely be performed in our Rockingham office and the adjacent Garden Island Naval base. Some interstate travel may be required. Due to the work on a Defence establishment, an Australian Defence security clearance will be needed.
