Reporting to the Underground Manager, the Production Engineer will play a critical role in supporting safe, efficient and sustainable underground gold mining operations at Black Cat Syndicate.
This position focuses on converting mine plans into executable production outcomes, supporting short‐term scheduling, operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with underground operations, geology, maintenance and technical services to optimise productivity and minimise downtime.
This role is FIFO from Perth or residential from Kalgoorlie on an 8/6 roster
Key Focus Areas
Production Engineering & Underground Operations
* Support delivery of daily, weekly and short‐term underground production targets
* Assist with execution of mine plans, development schedules and stope production
* Analyse production performance, identify bottlenecks and recommend practical improvements
* Provide technical input into stoping, development sequencing and ground support
* Monitor compliance to mine designs and support corrective actions where required
* Work closely with underground supervisors and crews to support safe production outcomes
Planning, Scheduling & Reporting
* Assist in preparation and maintenance of short‐term production schedules
* Track and report production metrics including tonnes mined, grade, development advance and utilisation
* Support reconciliation of planned vs actual production and mining performance
* Maintain accurate production data, reports and operational documentation
* Use mine planning and scheduling software (preferably Deswik) to support reporting and analysis
* Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across underground production
* Support implementation of scalable production systems, processes and reporting frameworks
* Assist with cost control initiatives and productivity improvement projects
* Promote best‐practice production engineering standards across operations
* Work collaboratively with operations, geology, maintenance and technical services teams
* Provide technical support to underground supervisors and operational personnel
* Contribute to development of junior engineers and graduates where required
* Promote a strong safety‐first culture across all underground mining activities
About You
* A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
* Experience in underground mining production or operations, ideally in gold
* Understanding of short‐term scheduling, production engineering or operational planning
* Exposure to underground mining methods and operational execution
* Familiarity with Deswik or similar mine planning software
* Previous underground exposure (completed time or minimal experience acceptable)
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative, practical mindset
* A proactive focus on safety, efficiency and continuous improvement
* WA Driver's Licence
