Job Description:
This role involves operating commercial vehicles to transport materials over long distances. The ideal candidate will have experience in driving A-double and B-double vehicles, as well as knowledge of the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) and BFM standards.
The job requires inspecting and maintaining vehicle supplies and equipment, including diesel, oil, water, tires, lights, and brakes. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining records, such as work diaries and cargo consignment notes, and obtaining proof of delivery for every delivery.
In addition, the driver will use and maintain tools and equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing and measuring devices and restraint equipment. They will also check the load corresponds with the paperwork and record breakage or damage.
The driver will need to calculate and estimate the weight of loads to comply with load limits and ensure that the load is correctly loaded and secured by the appropriate equipment when loading or before departing depot.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Valid MC Driver's License
* Experience operating A double & B double vehicles
* Knowledge of the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) along with BFM standards
* Attained unit of competency TLIF0005 - Apply a fatigue risk management system (BFM Drivers only)
* Demonstrated driving record (a recent Driving History/ Demerit Point Record)
* Driving experience (an internal driving assessment will take place)
* Ability to safely conduct manual handling activities
* Good communication skills
* Acting with integrity
* Ability to comply with legislative requirements
