About the Department
The Department of Treasury and Finance is at the centre of Government decision-making. As the principal economic and financial advisor, we provide leadership and strategic advice and influence to support the delivery of services and outcomes for the benefit of Western Australia.
What we do is integral to the Government's decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer's money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.
We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.
We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.
Work area
This role sits within the Economic Policy Directorate which is part of the Economic business unit. The Economic Policy directorate develops economic strategies and policies, advances economic reforms, drives better regulation across the State's public sector, and undertakes economic modelling and in-depth economic analysis.
Opportunity
Are you passionate about helping drive long term economic prosperity and high living standards in our State? We are looking for someone who can identify priorities for the State's economic development, understand the role of government in industry support, build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and work collaboratively to make a difference for Western Australians. In this role, you will:
* manage the Economic Strategy team in providing strategic advice on economic development, diversification and industry support issues;
* manage Treasury and Finance's external engagement program, including organising the annual Public Sector Economic Forum;
* develop positive and effective collaborative relationships within and across government agencies, and external stakeholders, to understand economic issues and drive change.
We currently have one (1) fixed term full-time position to backfill maternity leave. This position is available until November 2026, with possibility of extension or permanency.
Note: Due to the department's shutdown over the Christmas/New Year period, this selection process will be finalised in early 2026. The selected candidate will be expected to commence in the role in the new year.
