Mainframe Security Consultant – IBM Z Platform Migration

Our client is a federal government account undertaking a strategic migration to IBM Security software on the Z mainframe platform. This role supports the review and planning of the migration strategy with a focus on mainframe security.
About the role:
We are seeking a profoundly experienced IBM Z Security Mainframe Consultant to lead a four-week migration strategy review. You’ll provide expert guidance on IBM mainframe security and software migration, working closely with stakeholders to assess readiness and define a secure transition plan.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct a comprehensive review of the migration strategy to IBM Security software on Z.
* Provide expert-level consultation on IBM mainframe security architecture and controls.
* Advise on software migration best practices and risk mitigation.
* Collaborate with client teams to assess current systems and define migration pathways.
* Deliver recommendations and documentation to support secure implementation.
Required Experience:
* 20+ years of experience in IBM mainframe security and software migration.
* Deep technical expertise in IBM Z platform and security tooling.
* Proven track record in federal or highly regulated environments.
* Ability to lead strategic reviews and produce actionable deliverables.
Mandatory Requirements:
* Australian Citizenship.
* Minimum Baseline Government Security Clearance.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in federal government projects.
* Availability for onsite work in Canberra (some remote flexibility may be agreed).
