Doomadgee State School is located in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, along the banks of the beautiful Nicholson River. Position Overview
This is a progressional Social Worker position in Queensland's Wellbeing Workforce. The successful applicant will be appointed to a lower classification with eligibility for progression once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. You will work closely with students and families to provide support for mild to moderate mental health concerns, working as part of the school's established student support team to enhance wellbeing and mental health services available to students.
Key Responsibilities
Assess client needs, develop care plans, connect clients with resources, advocate for rights, and provide emotional support.
Provide professional support and information for students, parents, carers, and school communities to facilitate partnerships in decision-making for enhanced learning.
Use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing mental health, social, and emotional challenges.
Deliver therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions addressing mild to moderate mental health concerns.
Facilitate referrals to allied health professionals and services, and assist students and families in accessing this support.
Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team.
Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community, and inter-agency networks relevant to the position.
