The opportunity
We are in the market for an experienced and qualified Engineering Technical Officer – Development, who is passionate about their profession and enjoys the rewards of a good challenge.
Working within the Development & Traffic Services team, this role will be responsible for:
* Providing technical advice and supervision of verge and crossover development to ensure the design and construction of verges comply with the requirements of the City
* Providing technical advice for new building construction to ensure the design and construction of verges comply with the requirements of the City
* Managing assessments of trees and vegetation within the road reserves to ensure works do not compromise tree and vegetation health
* Achieving a balance between tree preservation and public safety in assessments
* Providing technical advice and supervision of public utility works to ensure the construction of public utility services do not compromise the operation and function of the City's assets and reinstatements comply with the requirements of the City
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Diploma of Civil Engineering, Public Works, Horticulture or Landscaping, or equivalent tertiary qualifications or training
* Current unrestricted 'C' class national driver's license
* Minimum years of experience in a similar position
* Sound knowledge in arboriculture, risk assessments and vegetation identification
* Experience in the project management of utility infrastructure construction works
* Strong project management, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
* Competence in assessing designs, specifications and plans for civil and structural accuracy and ensure compliance with legislative requirements, local laws and Council policies
* An understanding of the planning and engineering processes for the development of verges
