We are working with a QLD Govt Dept to source an experienced Graphic Designer to join the Governance and Design team within Stakeholder Management. In this role, you will create visually compelling materials across print, digital and online platforms that support the Region's stakeholder and community communications and engagement program. This is a long term 3 year contract based on the Sunshine Coast. Whilst it is a hybrid role, you will need to be located on the Sunshine Coast or within close proximity to attend the office 3 days per week.
Accountabilities
• Develop and deliver high quality creative design solutions that align with the program's strategic objectives, and inform, inspire and connect with stakeholders and communities.
• Provide expert design and digital communication advice to executives and stakeholders, Departmental teams, including guidance on branding, asset production, and whole of government requirements.
• Build strong relationships with internal clients and teams to understand objectives, translate complex information into clear visual solutions, and ensure all deliverables support the strategic goals.
• Design, layout and produce a diverse range of communication materials aligned with brand guidelines, including publications, brochures, newsletters, displays, maps, presentations, social media content, and digital/print advertisements.
• Manage workflow and competing priorities using team systems and project management tools
• Apply a customer centred mindset to ensure creative outputs meet high-quality standards, deadlines and budget requirements.
• Liaise with external suppliers – such as printers, illustrators, photographers, videographers and animators – to coordinate outsourced production and ensure quality and brand consistency.
• Stay current with emerging trends in visual communication, digital design and creative technologies.
• Provide technical support and guidance, contributing to improving graphic design processes, services and standards within the Governance and Design team.
• Collaborate with Graphic Design teams across the Department to share knowledge and support a coordinated, consistent approach to design.
Mandatory Requirements
• Minimum of five years' experience as a graphic designer across the areas of graphic design, digital, visual or creative design.
• Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in design, publishing and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro; Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to develop innovative, contemporary design solutions for complex communication needs.
• Experience producing high level creative work for large corporate or govt
• Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast paced environment with strong problem solving and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently
• Experience working within corporate branding and style guidelines.
• Exceptional attention to detail, with strong time management and organisational skills.
Desirable Requirements
• Basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including creating accessible PDFs and Microsoft Word documents.
• Experience using workflow or project management tools such as Asana.
• Knowledge of Queensland Government processes and policies.
• Additional creative skills in videography or animation would be a bonus
