Job Title: Caseworker-Link-Up
This position is responsible for providing case management and support to Stolen Generation(s) clients and their families who have been institutionalised, adopted or fostered through past Government removal policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Casework
•Make contact with allocated clients within 5 working days of receiving a client allocation.
•Conduct intake documents with clients.
•Maintain fortnightly contact with allocated clients and offer client healing events/days/camp, wildflower therapy and/or counselling whilst research is being undertaken.
•Conduct outreach as required.
•Present research findings to clients with the counsellor and research officer.
•Co-ordinate client reunions/healing camps in consultation with the client and a counsellor.
•Work with local Aboriginal people/organisations to help facilitate reunions.
•Organise accommodation and other bookings.
•Coordinate client reunions and healing camps.
•Collect client feedback.
•Evaluate client reunions/healing camps
•Contact clients after attending a reunion.
•Collate and present reunion memoir to clients.
•Arrange referrals to other services as appropriate.
•Promote the Link-Up service.
Administration and Reporting
•Complete event documentation.
•Write reunion/healing camp reports.
•Participate in Link-Up team and staff meetings.
•Contribute to the implementation of team action plans.
•Record and maintain client data.
•Participate in data audits.
•Participate in team planning week.
Other
•Participate in Yorgum’s cultural events.
•Support other team members when requested.
•Contribute to and implement continuous improvement strategies.
•Contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.
•Participate in conferences and training as required.
•Other duties as required.
Selection Criteria - Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification (Section 50D EEO Act) .
1. Certificate IV in relevant qualification i.e. Mental health, social and emotional wellbeing or related discipline or significant experience in a related field
2. Demonstrated case management skills with experience and knowledge of family separation and stolen generation(s).
3. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
6. Experience with Microsoft and database applications.
7. Be available to travel and work after hours as required.
Essential pre-employment requirements
1.Current Driver’s license
2.National Police Certificate
