LET'S EXPLORE THE ROLE
As a Procurement Specialist, you'll be embedded within BAI's project delivery team, providing procurement support across major technology, transit, and communications programs.You'll translate technical requirements into clear procurement specifications, run competitive RF(x) processes, evaluate vendor capability, and ensure supply aligns with project timelines.This role sits within Finance, reporting to the Head of Procurement, and operates across engineering, project delivery, logistics, warehouse and finance teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define procurement specifications in collaboration with engineering and technical teams
* Lead vendor pre‐qualification and capability assessments
* Run end‐to‐end RF(x) processes, including documentation, evaluation frameworks, scoring and contract award recommendations
* Conduct market analysis to build and maintain a fit‐for‐purpose supplier base
* Support supplier onboarding, performance evaluation and compliance
* Maintain strong relationships across project, technical and finance stakeholders
* Monitor order status, lead times and delivery risks, escalating issues proactively
* Manage goods receipt, storage and distribution with warehouse and site teams
* Provide analytical insights, cost benchmarking and procurement input for bids and new project opportunities
* Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement policies and processes

You're a detail‐driven procurement professional with experience supporting complex technology, infrastructure, or transit projects. You enjoy partnering with technical teams and managing structured procurement processes that deliver value, mitigate risk, and support project outcomes.
Technical Skills Required
* Indirect category management across telecommunications, IT or technology systems
* Requirements definition & specification development with technical teams
* Vendor capability assessment & pre‐qualification
* Commercial contract interpretation
* Logistics management & knowledge of Incoterms
* Strong analytical skills, insights and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree qualification plus 5+ years in procurement, category management or project‐based procurement
* Experience across major infrastructure, transit, utilities or technology system delivery
* Must be able to undertake a Criminal History Check
* Role must be performed from within Australia
