For further information please visit https://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/ What You'll Do In this role, you will apply expert horticultural techniques to assist in the management of landscape operations at Melbourne Gardens. You will also support the daily operations of Lightscape, assisting with monitoring, reporting, and post-event landscape recovery. Additionally, you will work with support the broader horticulture team including apprentices and volunteers. A strong focus on workplace safety, collaboration, and compliance with regulations is essential, as is a commitment to delivering exceptional horticultural care in one of Victoria's most iconic landscapes. What You'll Bring The ideal candidate will have a Trade Certificate, Advanced Certificate, relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience in horticulture or a related field, along with a Farm Chemical Users Course certification or an Agricultural Chemical Users Permit. Your expertise in optimising plant performance, weed, pest, and disease identification, and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies will be essential. You will have experience maintaining accurate plant records, maps, and planting schemes, as well as safely operating horticultural machinery and equipment, including selecting and using appropriate personal protective equipment. A sound communicator, you will be adept at engaging professionally with visitors in a public-facing environment. Experience with landscape irrigation systems, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team are also key.
