Do you take pride in being highly organised, observant and quietly dependable?
Are you someone who notices what's needed, stays one step ahead and takes satisfaction in helping others perform at their best?
This is a rare opportunity to work closely with a senior barrister (King's Counsel), providing trusted, hands-on support that keeps each day running smoothly, calmly and with purpose.
The practice focuses predominantly on civil matters, operating at a senior advisory level and to the highest professional standards.
Job Share Arrangement
The role is structured as a job share, with two people together forming one consistent, reliable support function. The goal is continuity, professionalism and reliability. Strong administrative support allows schedules to flow and court and mediation days to run seamlessly, enabling full focus on legal practice.
The Role
This position blends personal assistant support, legal secretarial work and practical day-to-day assistance. It is varied, people-facing and requires a high level of professionalism, discretion and sound judgment at all times. No two days look exactly the same.
You will play a key role in managing schedules, calls and emails; preparing legal documents using established templates; liaising with clients, solicitors and barristers; and keeping administrative matters such as invoicing and timesheets on track.
On court and mediation days, you will provide in-person support throughout the day. This includes:
* driving to and from Brisbane or between locations on the Gold Coast as schedule,
* undertaking general administration such as printing and note-taking, and
* anticipating and coordinating meals and refreshments to support continuity and focus, particularly during long sessions.
You will also work closely with your job-share counterpart to ensure consistent processes and a shared understanding of how the role operates. During quieter periods, you will work in the background on administrative tasks so nothing accumulates or falls behind.
About You
You are comfortable working with responsibility and autonomy and take pride in being prepared, reliable and attentive to detail.
You will bring:
* established experience in a PA, legal secretarial or senior administration role, ideally within a professional services environment;
* clear written and verbal communication skills;
* an ability to anticipate needs and prioritise effectively;
* strong organisational skills and ease in navigating MS Office, Adobe and other applications;
* flexibility and resilience, particularly on days where schedules are unpredictable.
An interest in law or prior exposure to legal environments is highly regarded, though not essential.
It is essential that you hold a current driver's licence for an automatic vehicle.
Why This Role Matters
This is a role where your contribution is genuinely felt. When days run smoothly, it is because of the support you provide.
You will be trusted, respected and given autonomy in a professional environment that values calm, clarity and good humour, underpinned by mutual respect and trust.
The job-share structure supports sustainability and consistency, with time off in lieu for longer days and six weeks of annual leave.
This is meaningful work, supporting excellence at the highest level of legal practice.
