We're representing a market-leading engineering and infrastructure business seeking a Commercial Manager to drive commercial excellence, strategic growth, and risk management across a diverse portfolio of high-value contracts.
This is a pivotal leadership role working alongside project delivery, legal, and operational teams to ensure commercial integrity, maximise profitability, and enable sustainable growth across large-scale infrastructure and utilities programs.
The Opportunity
As a senior member of the commercial leadership team, you'll oversee all commercial activities across bids, delivery, and governance.
You'll lead and mentor a capable contracts and project commercial team, supporting programs across the energy, water, and civil infrastructure sectors.
This position requires someone who thrives in complex, high-accountability environments — combining commercial strategy, operational discipline, and the ability to influence key stakeholders at every level.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the commercial function across multiple contracts and projects
Drive tender and pre-contract commercial strategy and negotiation
Identify and mitigate risk, ensuring compliance with corporate governance frameworks
Develop and implement contract management frameworks, financial controls, and reporting systems
Support major bids and tenders, ensuring sound commercial positioning
Provide commercial advice and leadership across project delivery teams
Partner with stakeholders to manage claims, variations, and subcontractor performance
Mentor contract administrators and project commercial staff
What You'll Bring
Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Law, or Contract Management (postgraduate desirable)
Proven track record in commercial management within construction, utilities, or energy sectors
Demonstrated success managing high-value contracts and multidisciplinary teams
Exceptional negotiation, stakeholder management, and communication skills
A collaborative approach and the ability to operate at both strategic and delivery levels
