PERSOL is supporting a local council seeking a Senior Governance Officer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.
Key Duties:
* Provide governance support on compliance calendars, audit returns, delegations, policies, and local laws.
* Provide governance support and advice to Council and Committee meetings.
* Facilitate and lead reviews of City and Council policies, procedures, frameworks, and local laws.
* Assist with the administration of local government elections.
* Prepare high-quality reports, correspondence, and facilitate training and awareness activities.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.
About you:
* Sound knowledge and experience with the interpretation of the Local Government Act 1995, regulations, standards, and best practice governance practices.
* Demonstrated experience applying governance, probity, or compliance frameworks in a complex organisation, with the ability to identify and manage risk within delegated authority.
* Experience in developing and reviewing policies and business processes.
* Time management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and competing deadlines.
* Experience in providing meeting management support including agenda and minutes preparation and meeting attendance and note taking.
