Barpa Pty Ltd is a majority Indigenous owned commercial construction company operating Nationally across Australia. About the Role
We are looking for an Estimator with solid experience in the construction industry. You'll play an important role in preparing accurate tenders and cost plan budgets across a variety of building projects.
This is a fast-paced role where you'll be involved in takeoffs and costing, contributing to tender close processes, validating risk profiles, and supporting margin decisions. You'll also have the chance to attend site visits and briefings to gather key information that informs accurate and competitive submissions.
As part of the team, you'll work closely with preconstruction, construction, and commercial colleagues, taking ownership of estimating duties and contributing to the overall success of our bids.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete your own takeoffs and coordinate external QS BOQs (depending on project scope and size).
* Review takeoffs and BOQs for accuracy and compliance.
* Analyse tender documentation and coordinate subcontractor/supplier quotes.
* Carry out cost evaluations and pricing analysis of quotes.
* Factor in preliminary project delivery requirements.
* Assist with developing budgets, cost models, and bid proposals, including value engineering options.
* Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to align scope and costs.
* Monitor market conditions to inform cost forecasting.
* Contribute to peer reviews of tender estimates.
About You
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, or Construction (or equivalent).
* Several years of estimating experience in the construction sector.
* Strong scope/cost acumen and proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PDF.
* Exposure to sectors such as Education, Health, Defence, or Government projects is desirable.
* Familiarity with estimating software (BuildSoft or Cubit preferred).
* Strong understanding of construction methodologies and processes.
* Highly organised with good time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
