We are seeking a dedicated Lead Process Engineer to join our dynamic Brisbane team, driving the process discipline across complex, multi-disciplinary detailed design projects in the mining and resources sector. This leadership role is pivotal in delivering best practice process plant designs, ensuring alignment with project objectives, Wave standards, and client expectations. The ideal candidate brings extensive process engineering experience, with a strong focus on technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams to achieve exceptional, high-quality, and compliant project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process design scope across detailed engineering projects, including development and reviews.
- Provide technical input into plant layouts, tie-ins, constructability reviews, and operability studies.
- Ensure process designs comply with Australian Standards, client specifications, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Actively participate in risk analysis, design reviews, and operability studies to ensure safe and efficient designs.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers and designers within the process discipline, fostering team development.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal discipline leads to align deliverables and resolve design issues.
- Provide process support during procurement, fabrication, and commissioning phases.
- Undertake site visits as required to support study and project work.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mining and resources sector to expand Wave's project portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients to foster long-term partnerships.
- Collaborate with the business development team to prepare proposals, presentations, and bids for new projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- 10+ years of experience in process design within mining and resources, preferably within a consultancy setting.
- Demonstrated experience leading process teams and managing discipline deliverables.
- Strong track record delivering projects in coal handling, mineral processing, or hydrometallurgy.
- Proficiency in in hydrometallurgical processing of minerals concentrates/intermediates and/or battery minerals/elements.
- Knowledge/familiarity with HSC-Sim, SysCAD, METSIM, Bruno, AggFlow, JKSimMet and/or other modelling software.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills (both written and verbal).
- Chartered Professional Engineer (highly regarded).
