Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Publishing Director, this role offers a fantastic opportunity for a talented editor to develop their editorial and publishing skills working with some of the most exciting and distinctive talent as part of a dynamic and growing team.
Role
Proactive project management from manuscript to finished copy, ensuring delivery on time and to budget.
Creative development and editing, including structural and line-editing.
Evaluating submissions and preparing acquisition P&Ls.
Copywriting and metadata management.
Liaising with authors, agents and freelancers.
Reading and reporting on submissions, contributing to brainstorms and discussion of new acquisitions.
Candidate Profile
A Senior Editor must be a passionate reader across a wide variety of genres.
The ideal candidate is motivated, committed, creative, flexible, with excellent editorial skills, a forensic eye for detail, and demonstrable experience of taking multiple titles through the full editorial process.
Strong communication, project management, organisational and time-management skills are required.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to managing multiple schedules is essential.
Previous experience within the book and entertainment industries is an advantage, as is experience of working within an editorial environment; however, we are keen to hear from candidates with a wide range of experience.
This is a full-time permanent role with a flexible working arrangement, including working from home and in the S&S office in Melbourne.
