About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Sports College South Australia as the Head of Athlete Development. In this full‐time, fixed‐term role based in Adelaide, SA, you will be responsible for leading the college's brand new high‐performance sports programs, ensuring the development and delivery of best‐in‐class training, coaching and athlete support services.
What you'll be doing
* Develop and implement a comprehensive high‐performance sports strategy that fosters a culture of excellence and elevates the college's sporting reputation
* Oversee the recruitment, development and management of the coaching team to support the training and development of aspirational student‐athletes
* Manage the planning, coordination and delivery of all aspects of the performance sports program, including training schedules, competitions, athlete welfare and recovery
* Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including national and state sporting organisations, to drive collaboration and secure pathways, funding and resources
* Lead the continued enhancement of learner‐athlete support services, such as sports science, sports medicine and learner‐athlete wellbeing programmes
* Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the ongoing success, growth and continuous improvement of the performance sports program
What we're looking for
* Extensive experience in a similar high‐performance sports leadership role, preferably within a tertiary or professional sports environment
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful high‐performance sports strategies and programmes at a very high level
* Excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and lead high‐performing teams
* Strong understanding of the sports science and sports medicine disciplines that support athlete development and performance
* Demonstrated success in securing funding and resources to support the growth and enhancement of performance sports programmes
* Tertiary qualifications in Sports Performance, Sports Science MBA, or a related discipline are essential
