The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) is an independent statutory body established under the Health Care Complaints Act 1993.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Information Management Officer is responsible for the effective management and continuous improvement of information and records management practices across the Commission.

The role leads the development and implementation of information management frameworks, systems and processes to ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements, including the State Records Act 1998 (NSW) and NSW Government cyber security obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

* Developing and implementing information and records management strategies, frameworks and processes
* Maintaining and reviewing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
* Supporting business units to manage, access and improve the use of information assets
* Ensuring compliance with records management, retention and disposal requirements
* Coordinating key artefacts such as the business classification plan, corporate thesaurus and retention and disposal schedule
* Acting as a key point of contact for information and records enquiries
* Engaging with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve information management practices

This role contributes to strengthening organisational capability, supporting decision-making, and maintaining public trust through effective information governance.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

* Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in records and information management

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

* Strong knowledge of records management and archival principles, including compliance with the State Records Act 1998 (NSW) and relevant standards
* Experience managing records and data, including identifying data integrity issues and implementing solutions
* Experience providing advice on systems, processes and information management practices
* Demonstrated ability to work with digital records systems (e.g. SharePoint, Records365 or similar)
* Ability to engage stakeholders and influence improved information management practices

KEY CHALLENGES

* Ensuring records are accurately managed, securely stored and appropriately disposed of in line with legislative requirements
* Maintaining compliance with evolving records management legislation, standards and practices
* Supporting business areas to improve information management capability and practices
* Meeting timeframes for critical information and reporting requirements
