Work Type: Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Part Time

This is for a Permanent or Fixed Term Part Time appointment with 48 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the team at Geraldton Hospital in the Midwest.

To be successful, you will have...

- Demonstrated credentialed diabetes educator status or completing mentoring process within 6 months of employment.
- Demonstrated extensive clinical experience and specialist knowledge in the area of specialty.
- Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, evaluate and support Quality Improvement Projects/Activities.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate nursing policies and guidelines using research findings to support evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated ability to identify nursing staff learning needs, develop orientation and clinical teaching opportunities and programs.

Position Profile:

Provides a clinical consultancy service to Aboriginal patients and families, staff, and other health professionals within WACHS Midwest. Promotes excellence in clinical standards and quality care. Demonstrates leadership and role modelling.

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at eligible locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. Please refer to the WA Country Health Service - Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program website for eligibility criteria.

Area Profile

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Midwest health region of Western Australia covers more than 470,000 square kilometres, nearly one fifth of the State, with its population concentrated along the coast. The region is located in the northern middle section of Western Australia and incorporates three health districts - Gascoyne, Geraldton, Midwest, and Murchison. It is recognised for its unique natural environment and is a culturally diverse region with Aboriginal people representing 13% of the overall population.
