The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Child and Family Health Nursing (CFHN) service, an integral part of primary health care. This role focuses on promoting optimal health, growth, and development for children aged 0–5 years and their families through compassionate, evidence-based care. You will work in partnership with families and the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care that aligns with the goals of each child and their family.

Using a strengths-based family partnership approach and guided by the principles of Primary Health Care, you will collaborate with clients, carers, and families to deliver client-centred care that is both safe and effective. This role involves health assessment, prevention, early identification and intervention, referral, health promotion, community development, and education.

If you are a compassionate nurse with a commitment to family-centred practice and early childhood health, we invite you to apply and make a meaningful impact in your community.

What You Will Bring To The Role

- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (genuine occupational qualification under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW) and demonstrated ability to effectively liaise with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and local communities.
- Current registration as Registered Nurse Division 1 with AHPRA
- Demonstrated recent experience and clinical skill in care of children aged 0–5 years and their families/carers as a registered nurse (including completion of a newly graduated RN program or 12 months full-time equivalent experience)
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate care planning for families with complex needs
- Ability to organise and prioritise work; effective teamwork and autonomy; strong written and verbal communication
- Commitment to professional development, evidence-based practice, and awareness of changes in health care
- Knowledge of and ability to utilise information technology systems (e.g., Cerner) and willingness to undertake training in electronic health record systems
- Current NSW State driver’s licence (including P1 or above) and willingness to use for work purposes, including driving long distances across the LHD
