Registered Nurse (Relief) ) role at Department of Health, Tasmania.
The Team
The George Town Hospital team works closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
- The George Town District Hospital and Community Services provide 15 acute care beds, physiotherapy, dental and podiatry services, and other visiting providers. Other services provided by the Hospital include Palliative care, Community Nursing, Home Help/Personal Care.
- Nursing quarters are available, co-located on site for staff to utilise with shared kitchen and bathroom amenities.
- George Town Hospital is approximately a 35-minute drive from Launceston, centrally located, close to supermarkets/eateries and a five-minute drive to the beaches of Low Head.
The Role
- In collaboration with members of the healthcare team plan, implement and evaluate patient/client care.
- Interact effectively with patients’/clients’ families and other health team members to facilitate the provision of optimum patient/client care.
- Active involvement in maintaining and continually improving the quality of patient/client care. This may include participation in research and evidence-based practice.
Details of appointment
Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately 24 months.
- Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary and benefits
- Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
- Access to Grade 4 salary range $99,455 - $105,995 is subject to progression to Grade 4.
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.
- Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary packaging for a range of advantages including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Remote and Rural Career development Allowance of 4% as an additional salary allowance.

Eligibility
- Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
