We're the Health Insurance Fund of Australia, but our friends call us HIF and we have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager with experience in a similar role and great people skills, to join our team. This is a full time, 12-month fixed term contract.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead the Finance team and oversee HIF's financial management and reporting. The role is accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of monthly management accounts, statutory and regulatory reporting, capital and solvency management, and the effective operation of core finance functions. You will support the achievement of strategic business objectives through continuous improvement of Finance operations and the delivery of efficient, reliable and value-adding corporate services.
Essential responsibilities that will ensure your success in this role:
* Preparation of management reports and commentary for monthly board meetings, providing clear insights into financial performance.
* Own HIF's annual financial and capital expenditure budgeting process, including forecasting across P&L, Balance Sheet, and Capital Adequacy.
* Ensure strong financial governance through effective cashflow, liquidity, capital management, and oversight of banking and investment arrangements.
* Manage external relationships with auditors, investment advisors, and regulators, including coordination of year-end statutory reporting and audits.
* Oversee core finance operations including AP/AR, payroll oversight, statutory returns, and subsidiary income tax compliance.
* Drive continuous improvement across financial systems, reporting processes, internal controls, and finance policies.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Finance team while delivering strategic financial insights to the CFO and Executive leadership.
What we're looking for in you
* Advanced MS Excel skill level
* Strong ability to multi-task and deliver to deadlines
* Exceptional attention to detail
* High numerical, analytical and interpretation ability
* Strong problem‑solving ability
* A professional and flexible manner
* Experience leading, mentoring and coordinating a team of finance staff
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role preferably in health insurance or financial services
* Experience with MYOB EXO
