Allied Health Assistant (Speech Pathology)


About Central Gippsland Health

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) is a sub‑regional health service and the major provider of health and aged care services in the Wellington Shire.

CGH is located in the City of Sale, 215 km east of Melbourne – an ideal access point to the Gippsland Lakes, 90 Mile Beach and the Victorian Alps.

Providing acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and beyond, CGH offers beds across three campuses (Sale, Maffra and Heyfield).

Acute services include a full‑time emergency department, critical care unit, neonatal critical care unit, three operating theatres, day procedure unit, oncology and dialysis services, along with general medical and sub‑acute rehabilitation services.

CGH also delivers aged care and community services, operating four residential aged care homes in Sale, Maffra and Heyfield, and offering community‑based services such as Support at Home and the Commonwealth Home Support Program.

Our multidisciplinary allied health team – physiotherapy, dietetics, occupational therapy, speech pathology and social work – provides accessible public dental services and supports people to remain healthy, active and independent in their own homes.

CGH is a leading teaching hospital affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health, providing placements and clinical experience for students.


About Department

The speech pathology service at CGH offers Early Childhood Intervention, acute inpatient and rehabilitation services, aged care, NDIS, home and community care, community health and specialist out‑patients clinics.


About the Role

You will deliver clinical and group therapy programs under the guidance of a speech pathologist and support the team with administrative tasks, such as setting up therapy programs and developing resources. The team primarily works with paediatric clients.

Desirable Skills/Competencies include:

* Experience working with children and families
* Excellent communication skills


Duties

* Participate in information gathering to assist the assessment process, including independent administration of screening tools under the guidance of an Allied Health Professional.
* Assist in supplying written resources under the direction of a Speech Pathologist.
* Facilitate and assist with therapeutic groups and/or educational programmes.
* Work with clients, their families and carers to carry out functional and therapy activities as identified in the client's care plans.
* Support clients, families and carers in accessing services.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

* Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent.
* Current clear Police Check and Working with Children Check.
* IS worker screening.
