Position Summary
We are seeking enthusiastic Educators to join our team at St Luke's Early Learning Centre. Working closely with
colleagues and the Lead Educator, this role supports the delivery of high-quality education and care, assists with
program planning and documentation, and contributes to resource preparation and administration. The Educator
also plays an active role in implementing the Centre's Quality Improvement Plan and represents the values and
vision of St Luke's while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Selection Criteria

SC3 Proven ability to implement and contribute to high-quality education and care programs in alignment with
the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS), and other relevant
legislative requirements, ensuring the holistic development and well-being of children

Early Learning Centre - Educator
Position Summary
The overall purpose of the Educator is to work collaboratively with all team members of the centre to support the
provision of education and care for children attending St Luke's Early Learning Centre.
The position provides administration, resource preparation, and pedagogical participation support to ensure the
effective delivery and documentation of the program in conjunction with the Lead Educator.
The position actively supports the identification and delivery of the service Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and acts
as an ambassador for the St Luke's Early Learning Centre. In carrying out the duties and expectations of the
position description, the position also supports the Approved Provider in meeting its legislative responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Participate in team decision-making for curriculum delivery Act professionally and politely with all team members at all times (including language,
appearance and behaviours), to support a cohesive team environment, assisting team members
whenever able
* Engage with team members in curriculum decision-making conversations
* Participate in critical reflection, and share findings and suggestions with team members
* Contribute to the ELC's Quality Improvement Plans and adhere to policies and procedures to
promote continuous improvement
* Engage with and act on the Service Quality Improvement Plan processes as directed
* Engage in and report on observations of children with team members daily to support curriculum
delivery
* Document curriculum outcomes and activities with team members using the agreed
documentation method
* Actively seek to demonstrate recognition, acceptance and respect towards Australia's First
Nation People
* Provide an anti-biased curriculum and pedagogy founded in respect and acceptance of all
persons
2. Prepare resources and environment in collaboration with team members Prepare resources and activities, and provide general assistance to the Director, Lead Educators
and Educators
* Ensure resources are in good working order, safe, clean, and suitable for use by children and
team members at all times
* Work with team members to source and arrange resources for use by children and team
members
* Work with team members to ensure resources are neatly stored to ensure ease of access and
rotated within the environment as required or directed
* Work with team members to ensure resources and the environment are clean and free of
hazards at all times
3. Support the service Quality Improvement Plan and other administrative functions Engage with team members in service philosophy conversations
* Support team members to prepare written communications to parents at a high professional
standard as required
* Ensure accurate recording on the designated sign-in kiosk of arrival and departure times for each
shift as you arrive and depart each day, ensuring you also sign in and out for breaks
* Promote and market the Early Learning Centre in a way that encourages the good reputation of
the service within the wider community
* Ensure you do not talk to media on behalf of the Approved Provider under any circumstance
* Ensure the Director of Communications and Development, and the Approved Provider are
notified immediately of the details upon being contacted by media
4. Engage with service children and families
* Supervise and engage with children and students, demonstrating best practice, and assume
leadership of individual and groups of children as required
* Oversee the program and team members to ensure reasonable steps are taken to ensure that
the needs for sleep and rest of children are met, having regard to the ages, development stages
and individual needs of children at all times
* Engage in purposeful teaching through active engagement with play experiences
* Consistently adhere to the Early Learning Centre Behaviour Management Pyramid for
children/students
* Consider connection before correction in all interactions
* Follow the service supervision plan at all times to actively engage in consistent supervision of
children as directed or required
* Where supervision issues arise, notify team members, and the Director or Responsible Person
and act immediately to rectify the situation
* Work with team members to establish strong collaborative partnerships with all family members
* Report family member concerns and/or information to the Director or Responsible Person
immediately
5. Ensure the Workplace Health and Safety of self and others at all times
* Provide individual attention and comfort to each child as required, including assistance with
toileting needs
* Maintain the health and safety of children at all times and administer first aid when necessary
* Perform daily equipment checks, remove broken items, report maintenance needs and manage
supply requirements
* Keep storerooms tidy, and bathrooms cleaned regularly, and maintain the overall appearance of
the centre and outdoor environments
* Uphold confidentiality in all matters related to the Early Learning Centre
* Ensure all parents and guardians with authorisation to access a child are able to enter
the premises at any time whilst the child is in care
* Ensure Food Safety and Food Handling programs are being enacted consistently and
are compliant with all relevant standards and legislation
* Assist the Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Coordinator in providing resources and activities
* Participate in professional development programs including those designed to enhance skills for
interacting and working with children
* Perform any other duties as directed by the Director of the Early Learning Centre, the Head of
Primary School, or the Principal.
Skills and Attributes
* Self-motivated, flexible and reliable
* Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with children, staff, families, and other
visitors to the School and Early Learning Centre
* A clear understanding of emergency procedures, including accidents, fire, suspected child abuse
and attempted unauthorised removal of a child from the centre
* Experienced enough to refer concerned families to the Director (or Responsible Person where
the Director is unavailable), who holds the sole responsibility for communicating with parents
regarding matters of concern
Education / Professional Qualifications
* Current Blue Card
* Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate
* Current or actively studying towards Certificate III in Children's Services or above (or Approved
NQF equivalent qualification)

Physical Capabilities
* Regularly participating in activities with students/children, such as lifting, bending, or sitting on the floor,
to support Lead Educator and interactions with students/children
* Stamina to actively engage in play-based learning and physical activities with children
* Physically capable of responding promptly in emergencies, such as evacuations, which may involve
guiding or assisting young students/children to safe locations.
Workplace Health and Safety
* Take full responsibility for compliance with the School's Workplace Health and Safety policy, Safe Work
Procedures, instructions and rules, particularly in the correct use of equipment
* Identify any unsafe behaviour, or unsafe or unhealthy conditions, and report these to the Director of the
Early Learning Centre or the Responsible Person in Charge and/or the Principal
* Adopt risk management strategies to minimise risk of injury to people and property in the workplace.
* Be responsible for own health and safety and for the health and safety of others in the workplace who
may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
* Co-operate with the Principal or other person so far as is necessary to enable compliance with any
requirements under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the regulations that are imposed in the
interests of health, safety and welfare of the Diocese or any other person
* In addition:
o Act at all times to ensure the safety of yourself and others at the service
o Act to minimise if safe to do so and/or prevent others' access to an identified hazard and notify
the Director/Nominated Supervisor immediately
o Ensure you and other staff are enacting the behaviours, tasks and attitudes outlined in 'Our
Commitment: Creating environments for children and young people to thrive: Code of Conduct for
Anglican Schools and Education and Care Services', and where discrepancies exist, notify the
Nominated Supervisor/Director
o Participate in service risk assessments using the centre's risk assessment template for all
activities identified as risky and/or as risks arise or incidents occur
o Engage in the centre's WHS audits as directed in a timely and professional manner
o Keep knowledge up to date regarding child protection obligations under legislation and policy
o Undertake annual child protection training as directed/required
o Act to protect children at all times and ensure individual privacy rights are respected and enforced
o Immediately report all child protection issues, concerns and suspicions to the designated person
as directed in Diocesan policy and procedure.
Safeguarding Children And Young People
* St Luke's School takes child protection seriously, and as an employee of the School, you are
required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Staff Conduct - Guidelines and
Expectations Policy. You will receive a copy of this policy as part of your induction. You can
also access a copy of these guidelines on the School website.
* Therefore, as a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:
* Participate in Child Protection training and education as appropriate
* Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people
* Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide
services
* Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe
* Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge
* Act as a positive role model for children and young people
* Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse to
management
* Maintain valid 'working with children' (Blue Card) documentation
* Undergo periodic 'national criminal history record' checks if requested
* Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the
course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young
people.

* Ensure the Approved Provider is notified of any changes to your circumstances including but not limited
to your compliance history

* Attend meetings, professional development and training as required by the Principal, ELC Director or
appointed delegate
* Comply with the National Quality Framework, the Education and Care Services National Law and
Regulations and the National Quality Standard pertaining to the Early Learning Centre
* Comply with all requirements of Anglican Church Southern Queensland Policy and Procedures manual
– Safeguarding our Students.
