About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our team at Vision Super. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical cyber security infrastructure, systems, and services that protect our organisation from evolving threats.
You will play a crucial role in driving best practice security standards across our network, endpoints, and data systems — ensuring our security architecture is resilient and adaptive to new risks.
This is a fully on-site position with flexible hours, available at either our Melbourne or Sydney offices, both conveniently accessible by public transport.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Security Infrastructure Design & Implementation: Design and implement security infrastructure including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
2. Vulnerability Management: Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities across systems and applications, ensuring timely patching and risk mitigation.
3. Network Security: Monitor network traffic, detect vulnerabilities, and implement network security measures such as segmentation and encryption.
4. Endpoint Security & Data Loss Prevention: Manage and secure endpoints (devices), including configuring antivirus software, endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, and mobile device management (MDM) systems and DLP tools.
5. Incident Response: Investigate security incidents, assess impact, and lead corrective action efforts.
6. Data Protection: Secure sensitive data through encryption and secure transmission methods.
7. Threat Monitoring & Testing: Monitor and respond to cyber threats using Splunk, Zscaler, and Sentinel. Coordinate penetration testing and vulnerability scans.
8. Security Standards: Interpret policies and regulatory requirements (including APRA CPS234) into actionable engineering and architectural standards.
9. Security Documentation: Maintain detailed records of security configurations, incidents, and reports for management and auditing purposes.
10. 3rd Party Assessments: Participate in, assess, and manage third-party cyber security assessments.
11. Security Awareness: Promote security awareness within the organisation through training and awareness programs.
What We’re Looking For
1. Post-secondary qualifications in a relevant discipline; a tertiary degree is preferred.
2. 5+ years of experience as a Cyber Security Engineer in a financial services / government / healthcare organisation .
3. Strong understanding of cyber security architecture and best practices.
Hands-on experience with:
1. Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel
2. NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, or ISO 27001 frameworks
3. APRA CPS234 or experience working in a compliance-driven environment is advantageous
4. Vulnerability management, network security, and data loss prevention (DLP)
5. Translating regulatory requirements into technical solutions
As well as:
1. An autonomous team-player with strong organisational skills, including the ability to plan and manage your own workload.
2. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
3. Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
4. Industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNA Cyber Ops, SSCP, CompTIA Security+) are highly regarded.
5. Willingness to complete Super Foundations (ASFA) or equivalent is desired.
